Billy Mac Concert success

The annual Billy Mac Mega Concert held in the Greville Arms Hotel on Tuesday, August 25 last was a mega success, raising vital funds for the Westmeath and Longford branch of the Carers Association.A huge turnout on the night ensured that the fundraising effort was well supported, with people of all ages coming along to see the créme de la créme of artsists perform. Among those performing on the night was singer Simon Casey, The Boys from the Blackstuff, The Times Showband, and of course the man himself - Billy Mac, to name but a few, who all of course provided their services for free so that all proceeds from the night went towards the Carers Association.Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner this week, Billy Mac said he would like to thank all those who turned out on the night and gave their support:"We broke all records this year with every seat in the house sold out within the first hour of the doors opening," said Billy."Each artist who performed on the night more than did their bit, so I was delighted at how well it all went," he continued. The Carers' Association is Ireland's national voluntary organisation for and of family carers in the home. Family carers provide high levels of care to a range of people including frail older people, people with severe disabilities, the terminally ill and children with special needs.Today, The Carers' Association has 16 Resource Centres and two Service Projects from which it delivers a wide range of services.
