John McCormack exhibition at museum

A new temporary exhibition exploring the life and times of the famous Athlone-born tenor, John McCormack opens on 15 September at the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History.The exhibition will include musical material, photographs and a wide range of personal memorabilia, charting the career and achievements of one of Ireland's most famous and best-loved opera singers.John McCormack (1884-1945) achieved extraordinary popularity both in Ireland and abroad and made several hundred recordings throughout his life.Regarded as the greatest lyric tenor of his time, he was made a Papal count in 1928.
