Lewis is ready to rebel

UK based Alt-Folk singer-songwriter, Lewis Garland will be coming to Mullingar with his band the Kett Rebellion as part of his first UK and Ireland tour. The gig will take place at The Yukon bar, Mullingar on 29th October. The group have a growing reputation for energetic yet intimate live performances and can frequently be found roaming amongst their audience mid-gig.The Kett Rebellion folk-Klezmer tinged sound provides the perfect cradle for Lewis' sharp, often caustic lyrics. The group have played at numerous festivals including Glastonbury 2008 and opened for the likes of Lau, Bowerbirds, Devon Sproule, Faustus and shearwater.Their current tour starts in Birmingham on October 8, takes them on a number of dates before their trip to Ireland, which sees tehm perform at just four venues: the Yukon on October 29th, Bewley's Cafe Threatre on October 27, the Globe, Dublin, on October 28, and the Widow's, Belturbet, on October 30.After that, they wind up the tour with two UK dates. The tour comes off the back of the release of their critically acclaimed debut album 'Places We Neglect'."Garland possesses that Midas touch to lyrics that few are blessed with; the ability to paint a picture of social surroundings, to be opinionated, to portray feeling and put over a message in subtle well constructed lyrics that sink deep in to the soul, without being blunt or intrusive.Put this knack of songwriting together with sparse but well rounded folk instrumentation and you have a really interesting sound," is how the website Folking.com described the work.
