This is Road Safety Week and Westmeath County Council have asked all road users to be vigilant when using roads at all times.Monster drive-in bingoThere will be a monster drive-in Bingo in the Coralstown Kinnegad GAA grounds on Sunday the 18th October at 3 pm with great prizes including a Blue Sheet €2000 jackpot and 1 line at €100, 2 lines at €150 and a full house at €200. A half book will cost €10, a full book €20 and a double book €35. A jackpot sheet is €2.50. All are welcome.The Top House Golf societyThe Top house golf had their final outing on Saturday last at Moyvalley. It was the season ending "Race to Moyvalley" competition which was kindly sponsored by Dave Sartori. Blessed with good weather and a course in great condition all helped to good scoring with Ali Powell coming out on top with 38pts. Cat1 was won by Peter Gorman 35pts, Cat 2 by Paul McDonald with 35pts and Cat 3 by Alan Sherlock also 35pts. Winner of the front 9 was Charlie O'Reilly on 20pts and the back 9 John Fagan, 20pts.Also on Saturday there was the small issue of Golfer of the Year with John Fagan going in with a 3 point lead over Ali Powell with Ali bridging that gap to draw level. It was agreed that there shall be an 18 hole playoff to determine the winner and it will be played at Castle Barna where both players are members in the next couple of weeks, a game to which many are looking forward.Finally, the 14th of November is the date for members' only turkey shoot. Names to given in to the Tophouse as a bus is being organised for the outing. The game will be a three-man scramble.Coralstown/Kinnegad Under 12 GAAOn Saturday 10th October the Coralstown/Kinnegad Under 12 GAA Football Team ended the football training season with a visit to 'Ambush' Paintball and Laser Centre in Gaybrook. Together with coaches Michael Moran, Michael Giles and Andrew Bracken, 19 team members enjoyed a fun-filled, high-energy day out. It was a very enjoyable culmination to a great season's football. Many thanks to the Coralstown/Kinnegad GAA Club and coaches for organising and funding this event. Credit Union National Poster CompetitionYoung local artists up to 18 years of age and over are being invited to submit entries for this year's Credit Union National Poster Competition which has been launched by Kinnegad and District Credit Union, using the theme 'My Credit Union, My Choice'. Now in its 26th year the Competition attracts up to 50,000 entries through 300 credit unions nationwide and caters for all ages, with categories ranging from 7 to over 18 years of age. There is also a Special Category for those with physical and intellectual disabilities.Kinnegad / Coralstown Community Games A.G.M.The A.G.M. of the Kinnegad/Coralstown Community Games Committee takes place on Monday, October 19th at 8.30pm in St. Etchen's N.S., Kinnegad. New members welcome. The Community Games aims to encourage participation in a wide variety of disciplines - art, athletics,swimming, quiz and team sports - to mention but a few. As participants progress from local to county to national level they are afforded the opportunity to compete against the best in the country. Kinnegad/Coralstown Community Games goes from strength to strength as the number of young people reaching national level from our area increases each year. New members are required for the committee. If you would like to become involved in Community Games at any level or if you would simply like to find out more about Community Games in your area, please come along.Clonard Road ClubA beginners' cycle commences on the 17th October at 10 am from Mother Hubbard's car park and every Saturday morning following. The cycle will be for one hour at a steady pace covering approximately 13 miles. Men women and children over 12 years are welcome and helmets are essential. Details available from 0879948950.Serenity House autumn activitiesThe Tuesday Night socials and Go for Life classes have resumed with the next social on the 20th October from 7:30 pm until 10:30 p.m. Go for life classes have also resumed on Monday between 10:30 am and 1pm The library is still open every Thursday in Serenity House from 2 until 4 p.m. Anyone who wants to avail of free transport to and from Serenity House to any of the social nights please phone 9375629 or 9374186. New members are always very welcome to attend any or all of the activities. Some parishioners would like to establish a local branch of The Society of St Vincent de Paul. To help with this Enda Breslin of St Vincent de Paul will speak in church next weekend. The next meeting of the liturgy team is Monday the 19th October at 8pm in the parochial house. A DVD of the Clonard Tractor run is available from the parish office on 9375197. The Marian Movement meets at 7.30 pm on Wed the 14th in the church.The apostolic work society want to thank all those who contributed who generously to their annual collection. Friends of St Finian will meet at 8 pm on Friday the 16th October at 8 pm in St Finian's Hall Clonard. Clonard 1500 will meet on Wed the 21st October at 8pm in St Finian's Hall. The rosary will be recited every evening at 7.30 pm in Kinnegad church for the month of October and all are welcome. The parish is considering a centenary issue of the parish magazine which would give the parish a snapshot in centenary year of the local changes since the last magazine in 1989.
