Representatives Invited To Attend County A.G.M.

Whether you have held your local Area A.G.M. to date or not, it is of vital importance that every Area have representatives present at the Westmeath County Annual General Meeting.It will be held on this Sunday, November 1 at 2pm in the Community Games Centre, Mullingar Business Park (beside Town Band). This is your meeting. This is the one meeting in the year you are asked to attend to show your support for the voluntary work carried out by the outgoing officers and committee. Your presence will be greatly appreciated on Sunday where County Officers and Committee will be elected for the coming year.Special GuestThis year we are delighted to welcome as our special guest, Michael O'Grady, National General Treasurer from Galway. Michael, apart from his financial duties, was very much involved in recruiting officials and volunteers to run the National Finals in Athlone this year. If there are any questions you wish to ask Michael regarding the National Finals, then this is the place to ask them."Jack Coleman" Involvement TrophyWho will bring home the "Jack Coleman Involvement Trophy" this year will be revealed on Sunday. The winners of this county trophy will go forward to the National Area Awards ceremony in Ballinasloe, Galway on Saturday, November 21 where they will also receive a National Award.Affiliation and FeesA reminder to all Area Secretaries that when they send in their affiliation forms, they must also include any outstanding monies due plus a copy of Secretary and Treasurer report. Fees include personal, public and Cumann Luthchleas Gael insurance's also county, provincial and national affiliation which must accompany affiliation forms.New Changes for 2010The following changes from 2009 A.G.M. will be added to our rule book and will be in operation for 2010.Area Rule 16 - Amend to read: At each Area's Annual General Meeting held not later than 30th September 30.County - New Rule: All competitors who qualify for National Finals must be registered as a participant on the Community Games Participant Register.Activities - New Rule: That at the National Finals where there are 3 teams in a competition that the said competition will be played on a Round Robin basis.Athletics New Rule: At the National Finals in Athletics, all Under 8 and Under 10 children who reach the final (last 8 competitors) and who do not win a medal will be given a Certificate.Athletics Track - New Event: that Under-13 Mixed Relay team (3 boys and 3 girls) be introduced into the national programme.Basketball - New Event: That a Under-11 Mixed Basketball be introduced to the national programme of events. Panel of 10 (5 boys and 5 girls), a minimum of 2 either gender to be on the court at all times during play.Cross Country - New Rule: The first four boys and first four girls in the Under-13 mixed final will be awarded individual prizes, i.e. gold, silver, bronze and certificate.Model Making - New Event: Boys and Girls Under-16 competition be added to the national programme of activities.Set Dancing - New Event: That a Under-14 Mixed Set Dancing be introduced to national programme.Swimming - Amendment: Panel for Swimming Squads be 6 - four to swim and two subs.Table Tennis - Amend Rule 4 to read: All games will consist of 5 sets.To win a set a player must reach 11 points and win by 2 points. If the score goes to 10 all, play will continue with service changing every point (up to 10 all service consists of 2 points) until one player wins by 2 points.Progressive 25Our Monday night card game at the Community Games Centre, Mullingar Business Park continues to draw good numbers.
