Kilbeggan Chronicle

Due to unforeseen circumstances the committee was unable to organise the annual weekend Arts Festival in Kilbeggan for 2009.But, rather than let the year go without any event, it was decided to proceed with what would have been the major artistic section of the festival, namely, the execution of a large mural - the idea of resident artist Celine Sheridan. This was executed with the help of the transition year art class of the Mercy Convent secondary school as well as a class from the primary school, under Celine's direction. The finished work of art will be unveiled at the roundabout, in Kilbeggan, on Thursday, November 27, at 1.30pm, by Katherine Kelly, Arts Officer with Westmeath County Council and Celine Sheridan, the artist. It is hoped many people will come to witness this important event which it is felt will become a major item of interest in the town of Kilbeggan, as well as the surrounding areas.Fund Raising NightA Fund Raising night in aid of St James Hospital Cancer research, will take place at the Grand Hotel Moate on Thursday December 3.
