GPS opposed to beds cut

Dear Editor,We are writing following the recent announcement of further closure of acute hospital beds at Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar. While we welcome the addition of new Day Care beds we do not believe that this will compensate for the loss of acute beds. Our concerns are firstly that the reduction in acute beds will make it difficult for the hospital to cope with increased demand over the Winter months and secondly that this reduction in resources will have implications for the future of Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar.Yours sincerely,ICGP East Midland Faculty Mullingar.
