Tyrrellspass cleans up in Westmeath bowls league
Westmeath bowls LeagueThis season's league honours went to Tyrrellspass, with their 'A' team winning the league and the B team coming a worthy second.The league finished its season on Sunday last with our popular fun bowls event.All league clubs were represented in Ballymore community centre and a great afternoon was had by all.In the main competition Mick Lynch (Tyrrellspass) led his team, Enda Connell (Castlepollard), Don Heard (Streete) and Dennis Collins (Athlone) to victory over Dolores McCormack (Mullingar) Sean Harte (Tyrrellspass), Glen Ridsdale (Mullingar) and Tony Downes (Ballymore) in a hard fought battle.And in the Plate competition Finbar Mullen (Streete) steered his players Mary Robinson (Castlepollard), John Malynn (Ballymore) Pat Feery (sub for Paul Harte) successfully over the winner's line when they came up against Molly Feery and Seamus Daly (Tyrrellspass ) Pat Houtmeyers (Kiltoom) and skipLiam Connaghton (Ballymore).The presentation of prizes was made to the winning teams on the day followed by trophies being presented by the league sponsor, Tom Cuffe of Tom Cuffe Builders, Ballymore.Many thanks to Tom for his continued support and thanks also to Ballymore club members whose hard work helped make the event a success.
