Summer Games Finals almost completed

Westmeath Community Games News -- The last of the Summer Team Games County Finals are coming to a successful conclusion and we would remind all county winning teams who have qualified for Leinster that they must send a copy of their competitors birth or baptismal certificate before May 7 in order that their team is registered with Leinster. Some Area Managers/Secretaries are slow to send in these certificates and we must remind them that their teams cannot go into Leinster unless we have these certificates, so its of vital importance to get them in straight away. The line-up is as follows.Boys Soccer under-12 county final: Moate v The Downs on Thursday, 6th May in Mullingar Athletic Soccer Club, Gainstown at 7 p.m..Tag Rugby Under-11 Blitz will be played on Tuesday, May 11 and Under-14 and Under-16 on May 12 in the Mullingar Rugby Club. Teams should check in at 6.30pm each evening.Hardcourt Tennis Under-13 county final: The Downs v Ballinea/Brotenstown to be played this week. Girls Gaelic Under-12 - Kinnegad/Coralstown are county winners after defeating Tyrrellspass in the final.Hockey County Final - Beechpark/Coosan defeated Tubberclair/Glasson to become county winners.Mini Rugby County Final - Beechpark/Coosan defeated Moate to become county winners.The date set for Pitch and Putt County Finals had to be postponed and will take place on an evening to be arranged next week. Teams will be notified.Gymnastics County Finals will take place on Friday evening, June 11 at 6.30pm in the Educate Together School, Mullingar.WestmeathTops AvailableIt has been suggested to us that every child should be able to purchase a Westmeath Community Games top (with hood) which is navy in colour with the Westmeath logo on front and "Westmeath Community Games" on the back. The price is reasonable, €20 for children and €25 for adults. It would be great to see all the children and adults wearing these tops especially those taking part at provincial and national finals.We are now in a position to take orders and you can place yours by calling Brid at 087 2584691 now.National Fees Now DueWe must appeal to all the Area Secretaries who have boys and girls in their Area who have qualified for the National Finals in Athlone on the weekend of 28th/30th May, to send in the €25 fee for their competitors immediately.We at county level must collect this fee and send direct to the National Headquarters before any competitor can take part in the finals, we would greatly appreciate it, if you could get it in to us immediately.Final Call For National AssistanceThis is the final call for volunteers who would like to assist at the National Finals in Athlone A.I.T. on May 28/29/30 to send in their names to Michael O'Grady, National Community Games. Volunteers are needed to help with administration, finance (gate collection), car park attendants, stewards, security personnel, co-ordinators and referees.
