Friday night shows are still very popular
Mullingar Equestrian Centre News -- After just a week's break for our annual Hunter Trials, the Friday night shows moved outdoors after the Easter break and continue to be as popular as ever. The 40 and 60 cm classes attract the biggest entries. Dominic McArdle, Lauren Shaw, Amy Cullen and Hannah McGoldrick all collected rosettes on the night.In the higher classes Claire Gorman, Jenny O'Reilly, Patricia and Claire Flynn all did well. There are just two more Friday shows, May 21 and 28 before the International Show. There will be no show on Friday, June 4. Instead there will be an opportunity for all the Friday night competitors to compete on Monday, June 7. This will be a fantastic opportunity for all these riders to jump alongside the cream of Irish show jumpers.SJI Pony League resultsDue to popular demand an SJI Summer League will take place in the Centre over eight Saturdays.The second leg of the league took place last Saturday and there was a very good turnout in both arenas. Competitors even travelled from as far away as Co. Tyrone to compete. Erin McCormack, Ruairi and Eoghan Fagan and the Derwin family all competed successfully in the 128 classes. Nano Healy riding Hip Hop Hooray and Elgin Joy collected three rosettes in the 138 events. Rachel Shaw, Ashling McGreal and Clodagh Tuite jumped their way to success in the 148s.Jumping continues next Saturday will both arenas starting at 9.30am.Greyhound Night OutA very successful night took place in the Greyhound track on Saturday, May 8 to raise funds for the international €20,000 grand prix which takes place in the MEC entre from June 5 to 7.For the first time ever three pony races took place on the night. It was another equestrian milestone for the eight local young riders who competed on the night.
