Success Continues for the Kevin Lyster Irish Dancers

Success is continuing in Rochfortbridge at the Kevin Lyster School of Irish Dancing, who recently returned from the WIDA European and World Irish Dance Championships.Helen McInerney came away with third place in solo dancing and is now ranked seventh overall in Europe. Helen, also, went on to win 21st place in the World Championships which were held in Malaga, Spain. This is a huge achievement for Helen and the Kevin Lyster School, which is less than a year in existence.The run of achievements have continued when Kevin's advanced dancers, Helen McInerney, Hannah Farrell, Frances Fallon, Elaine Geraghty, Megan McKenna and Gemma Gorman were selected to appear on TG4 An Jig Gig this Autumn.Also, there was great excitement when Kevin's senior adult Ceili Dancers from the School were also selected to appear on the popular Irish Dance Show. The team of: Marilyn Loran, Aoife Hyland, Jade Louise Byrne, Dolores Cleary, Jeanette Brogan, Helen Gacquin, Leanne Geraghty and Ursula Heeney brought the audience to their feet on recording of the show in RTE studios all to be screened in Autumn.Last week, at the CRG All Ireland Irish Dance Open in Tullamore, Kevin's Dancers swept the Score Boards in style. Six-year-old Ava Loran became the youngest All Ireland Champion from the school as Ava was crowned U/6 Irish Open Champion and in Second place came Torie Dunne.Christian Taylor and Barra Kinsella impressed the judges with their talent too, finishing at the top end of their championships. Sisters, Sorcha and Ciara Forde had great success on the day as did Emma Arthur and Melissa Cully.Sarah Loran and Morna Brady danced superbly on the day and also left with a huge haul of awards. Also, impressing the adjudicators were Catriona Dunne, Amy Floyd, Aisling Moran, Jane Kinsella, Gemma Gorman, Hannah Farrell, Angela Bradley, Helen McInerney and Feis debut dancers Rebecca Ellen Reid and Elaine Byrne.This October, Kevin Lyster School of Irish dancing is Hosting 'Feis An Iarmhi Lar Tire 2010'.The event takes place on Sunday, October 17 at the Mullingar Park Hotel.This is the first WIDA feis to be held in the Midlands and will see dancers travel from all corners of Europe to compete in the World Irish Dance Association Event. It is expected to attract large crowds of top-quality dancing talent.The competition is run on an open platform basis, meaning any dancer from any school or organisation can take part.Entries can be made on-line at www.worldirishdance.com or by e-mailing Kevin at kevinlyster@o2.ie.The future of Irish Dancing is alive and well in Rochfortbridge and enrolment for new pupils will commence again in September.
