The late Julianne Cahill
The death of Julianne Cahill, of Tullaniskey, on June 26, came unexpectedly, despite the fact that Mrs. Cahill had been ill for just over a year, taking ill not long after her retirement from the nursing staff of St. Loman's Hospital in Mullingar.Mrs. Cahill, a native of Co. Tipperary, had lived in Mullingar for 35 years, but died while staying for a period of respite at her sister's house in Tipperary.Mrs. Cahill trained at St. Vincent's Hospital in Dublin, and nursed for a while in Ennis and Clonmel before she and her beloved husband, Patsy, ended up in Mullingar.Devoted mother to daughter Ciara, who works in the Stock Exchange in Dublin, and to Elroy, a teacher in London, Mrs. Cahill was a keen gardener, and also enjoyed the occasional game of golf.Sadly, for the last year of her life, she and Patsy had a tough time as the illness that struck her took hold; and in a bitter twist, Julianne's sudden turn for the worst happened while Patsy himself was recovering from an operation.Mrs. Cahill is survived by her loving husband and family; by her sister, Peggy (Carroll); her brothers, Bart and Jimmy who live in Tipperary, and Patsy, who lives in London; her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The remains reposed at Egan's Funeral Home in Thurles prior to removal to S.S. Patrick and Oliver Church, Glengoole, New Birmingham, of where Patsy is a native; and the requiem Mass took place at S.S. Patrick and Oliver's before burial in the adjoining cemetery.
