The late Mary Toner

The death of Mrs. Mary Toner, of Balrath South, Delvin, came at an untimely age, for she was just 51 years old. Mrs. Toner died at her home on July 27, after a short illness.A native of Delvin, and from a popular local family, Mrs. Toner was also well-known in Athboy, where, for all her working life, she was employed at McElhinney’s store.The removal took place from the St. Camillus Nursing Centre Chapel, Killucan to the Church of the Assumption, Delvin, where they were greeted by Fr. Seamus Heaney.;Fr. Heaney also celebrated the funeral Mass, along with a visiting priest from Co. Meath.Mrs. Toner is survived by her husband, Gerard; her mother, Mrs. Margaret Cooke, Delvin; by her brothers John and Gerry, who both live in Delvin and her sister, Margaret Heneghan, of Enfield, as well as by her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.
