Court judgements rising in Westmeath

Some eleven companies in Westmeath were brought before the courts in the second quarter of this year on foot of unpaid bills.Between them, the eleven were ordered to pay their creditors €331,505.The figure puts Westmeath third highest in Leinster in terms of court judgements for the three month period, coming in behind only Dublin itself, in which judgements amounting to €5.421m were awarded, and Kildare, where judgements amounted to €400,503.However, when the All-Ireland picture is examined, Westmeath comes in in ninth place. The figures also show though that the amount awarded in judgements against Westmeath counties is soaring ahead of the amount awarded against firms within the county in the same period last year. The Q2 2009 figure was just €58,297 - an increase of 468.6 per cent.
