Amy takes the honours with great round

Another successful showjumping indoor league concluded on Friday night last. There was a great standard of jumping throughout with huge progress noted among the younger riders in the 40 and 60 cm classes. Many of the competitors are now looking forward to the challenge of moving up a height in the next league.Amy Cullen took the honours in the 40 cm league with Firebee. Amy really enjoys her showjumping, having never missed a night over the eight weeks. Lauren Flynn, who has teamed up with Annabell, finished runner up and this combination will be one to watch in the future.Some of the youngest competitors Sophie Treanor, Hanah McGoldrick and Dominic McArdle continue to impress each week. Tara Flynn who finished well in the 40cm league is the fourth Flynn sister now competing each week.Five very determined young riders topped the 60cm league table with Chloe Fagan, Eadaoin Liddy and Emer Flynn sharing top spot from runners-up, Emily Byrne and Melek Fagan.Karen Gaffney was a very deserving winner of the 70cm league having worked hard with her new pony since early September, Well done to James Drumm who shared top position with Karen and to a very delighted Catriona McVeigh who finished second.It was another very close finish in the 80cm with Emma Flynn winning by a short head from Caroline Dardis in second and her sister, Rebecca in third. Ciara Fagan was the runaway winner in the 90cm from Triona Dunne in second. Well done to everyone who took part in the league and especially to the parents and drivers who played a vital role each week.A new indoor Friday league starts this Friday, October 29 at 5pm. New riders are welcome at any stage throughout the league. As it is Hallowe’en weekend traditionally riders and ponies are decked out in Hallowe’en costumes so looking forward to a “spooky evening” of showjumping to start the Winter league.
