Queen's visit is the perfect showcase - Penrose

Queen Elizabeth's visit to Ireland is the perfect opportunity to showcase all that is good about the country. That's according to Minister for Housing and Planning Willie Penrose who, along with the other members of the Cabinet, is due to meet Queen Elizabeth this morning, Wednesday, in Government Buildings in Dublin.Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, the Ballynacargy native noted that the visit "is an important step" in the joint history of both countries."Not only is it a continuation of what has derived from the Good Friday Agreement, it is als a signal of the maturity of relations between Ireland and England. The Queen is the head of state of our immediate neighbour and hopefully it is the beginning of a new future between the two countries and is something that can be built on."With the country still struggling economically, Deputy Penrose says that it is imperative that Ireland takes advantage of the global media attention it will get courtesy of the visits of the Queen, British Prime Minister David Cameron and American President Barack Obama.(For more see this week's Examiner)
