Westmeath start All-Ireland campaign with victory

Westmeath commenced their All-Ireland campaign when they travelled to Edendork St. Malachy's in Dungannon on Saturday evening last. The team gave a great performance to win fairly comfortably.Once again the forwards all demonstrated their scoring skills and the defence worked hard to keep the Tyrone forwards under control. In the first half scores came from Louise O'Connor (1-1), Muireann Scally (1-0) and Pamela Greville (0-5) for a scoreline of 2-6 to 0-5 at half time.In the second half Westmeath continued to place Tyrone under pressure with scores from Louise O'Connor (1-0), Pamela Greville (1-2) Catriona Murtagh (0-1), Andrea Martin (0-1) and Jeanette McCormack (0-1).This was a great start to the championship and Westmeath will next play Armagh on Saturday at home who also have a win under their belt after they defeated League finalists Cavan in their first game.
