London calling Damien

Mullingar cyclist Damien Shaw has his sights firmly set on a podium finish at the London Paralympics after winning a silver medal at the World Parcycling Track Championship in Los Angeles on Thursday.Damien and his tandem partner James Brown claimed second place in the 4km Pursuit. On their route to the final where they faced Australian world record holders Bryce Lindores and Scott McPhee, the duo smashed the Irish record. What makes their achievements all the more laudable, aside from the fact that former underage running star Damien started cylcing two years ago, is the news that Damien and James had only trained together a handful of times before making the long journey to LA for the competition.
