Mullingar boxers excel at Tammer Elite Multi-nations
Mullingar boxers John Joe Joyce and David Oliver Joyce were among the Irish winners at the Tammer Elite Multi-Nations competition in Tampere, Finland on Thursday.In his 69kg bout, European medallist and Beijing Olympian John Joe Joyce defeat English pugilist Anthony Fowler 17-10, while his fellow Mullingar man and St Michael's, Athy clubmate David Oliver Joyce got the better of Welsh fighter Richard Needham in the 60kg category.Portlaoise BC's Michael Nevin meanwhile - a cousin of Mullingar Olympic silver medallist, John Joe Nevin - also won his bantamweight (56kg) fight against Scotland's Joe Ham.
