Christmas greetings from Lebanon

Defence Forces spending Christmas and New Year in Lebanon are thinking of homePeace is something everyone desires at Christmas, and it is fitting that the members of the Defence Forces whose jobs force them to be abroad at this time of year, separated from family and friends, are serving in the name of peace. There are a total of 75 personnel from the Westmeath area serving overseas in south Lebanon, and for many of them, the season began with Christmas Eve Mass celebrated by the chaplain, Fr David Tyndall, at 9pm, or Christmas Day Mass at the outposts located close to the Israeli border, for the Irish soldiers serving with the United Nations. In this week's Westmeath Examiner, out on Thursday December 27, we have two full pages on the Defence Forces, one marking the end of the 4FAR and one with Christmas and new year greetings from soldiers serving abroad this year.
