'People are worried about the property tax'

Ahead of a function in Athlone tonight to honour the contribution to public life by former county councillor and Athlone town councillor Kieran Molloy, Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin talked to people in Kinnegad, Rochfortbridge and Kilbeggan and said he believes there is a "disconnect between politics and what happens on the ground"."Basically people are saying that they are finding things very tough, finding it hard to pay bills," Mr Martin told the Westmeath Examiner."A lot of people are very worried about the property tax, and other charges, unemployment," said the party leader, who aims to redress this in time for the next local elections in 2014.
