A fight with flavour at The Gathering of the Titans

Raharney Hurling Club and Ballynacargy Football Club have teamed up to organise one of the biggest White Collar Boxing events of the year in the midlands, The Gathering of the Titans.

Twenty boxers – hurlers and footballers from all over Westmeath – will take each other on in 10 fights on Sunday May 5 in the Mullingar Park Hotel. Hundreds of people are expected to attend as it promises to be a great night with celebrity participation and entertainment.

Speaking at the launch, organiser Cllr John Shaw from Raharney, said: “This event is being organised by the clubs to raise funds for our sports facilities. Raharney Hurling Club is upgrading its pitch at Joristown Park to facilitate the training and many games that take place there.

Ballynacargy Football Club is continuing the development of Moynihan park, Ballynacargy’s GAA field, so all funds raised will go a long way to ensuring that these wonderful facilities are available to all who wish to use them in the surrounding areas in the coming years.”
The Gathering of the Titans is on Sunday 5th May in the Mullingar Park Hotel, (doors at 7.30pm). Tickets, €15 each, are available by calling Frank Lynam on 087 271 2260 or Billy Boyle on 087 251 9251.
