Launch of Fleadh ‘63 Mullingar celebrations
Last Saturday night Áras an Mhuilinn was filled with great young musical talents – Cumann na nÓg Craobh Phiarais Ui Ghréagáin from Dublin and Ceoltóirí Óga from Killeigh CCÉ in County Offaly – who played lively sets alongside a stellar performance from Mullingar CCÉ.
They were marking the launch of Fleadh ’63 Mullingar Celebrations, which will take place on Friday April 12 to Sunday April 14.
This is a Gathering project hosted by Áras an Mhuilinn and throughout the weekend there will be an exhibition of Fleadh ’63 memorabilia.
On Friday April 12 there will be a screening Fleadhanna Ceoil through the Years film followed by an informal seisiún.
On Saturday April 13 there will be Gaeilge for páistí morning workshop, while in the afternoon there will be a film screening and discussion forum titled Memories of Fleadh ‘63 with MC Kieran Hanrahan.
Later on Saturday night a reunion concert of Westmeath all-Ireland Fleadh winners presented by Westmeath County Board with MC Kieran Hanrahan will take place in Bloomfield House Hotel followed by Gathering seisiún.
On Sunday there be an afternoon céilí followed by seisiún and dráma in Áras an Mhuilinn.
Visitors from Britain will attend and play at seisiúns throughout the weekend. All musicians and non-musicians are invited to come and enjoy what is hoped will be a weekend full of ceol and craic.
