Census 2011 Area Profiles
The Central Statistics Office has published Census 2011 Area Profiles for 350 areas across the country.
These profiles, which are short two-page reports, present an overview of census information for these areas in an easy to read format. They are available for each of the 34 administrative counties, the 43 Dáil constituencies (2007) and for 272 towns with a population of 1,000 and more.
The Area Profiles are available to view and download at www.cso.ie.
Deirdre Cullen, senior statistician at the CSO, said: “This is a new report product from Census 2011 which we believe will be useful to policy and decision-makers at local level, along with the general public and schoolchildren who are interested in finding information on their areas.”
Each profile shows a map of the profile area and includes information on the age, sex and marital status of the population, as well as data on housing, living arrangements and household composition; other topics such as nationality, migration, the labour force and education are also covered. The reports also contain state comparisons and include colourful illustrative charts.
Ms Cullen said: “The new area profiles aim to ensure that census data is readily available to people about their local area. They focus on information which is of broad interest to decision makers and the public.
“The two-page reports are an ideal quick reference for people interested in the population of their county, city or town.”
