A dream summer job

As part of a nationwide campaign to explain the benefits of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) to the public, Agri Aware is appointing a CAP Agri Ambassador at the Family Farm at Dublin Zoo.

The ambassador will work there for June, July, August and September, communicating the CAP to the thousands who will visit the Zoo over the coming months.

Students involved in agri-food related courses or with an interest in the agri-food sector are being offered the opportunity to apply for the role, which was described by Agri Aware executive director Dr Vanessa Woods as “the best summer job this year”.

Agri Aware chairman Bernard Donohue said this is one initiative being undertaken in the campaign to explain the benefits of the CAP to urban and rural dwellers of all ages.

“Co-financed by the EU Commission’s Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development, it was awarded to Agri Aware following a competitive bidding process. The campaign is supported by Agri Aware’s patrons, the IFA and FBD. It will run over the next eight months,” said Mr Donohue.

Applicants for the CAP Agri Ambassador post should submit a one page essay, outlining how they would communicate the CAP to the public. They should also submit five slogans that clearly describe the CAP.

Applications should be sent to yvonne.redmond@agriware.ie. The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Friday 24 May.
