Greg Crowley from The Downs in action for London.

Crowley looking forward to London's date with destiny

When The Downs native Greg Crowley moved to London, little did he think that he would be lining out in a Connacht football final.

Fast forward 18 eventful months, and Greg and his team mates have provided Gaelic football with one of the stories of this or any other summer with their victories over Sligo and Leitrim.
While the rest of the football world may be shocked by their exploits, half forward Greg says that the London squad has merely achieved its pre-season objective.
“We had a meeting early in November and set our target to get into Connacht final; after that we said we would reset our goals from there.”
Although the bookies have London at 50/1 to claim a maiden provincial crown and Greg acknowledges that they are “massive underdogs”, the last Westmeath man left in any senior All Ireland championship says that they will enjoy the occassion.
“We have nothing to lose. The pressure is on Mayo, who are outrageous favourites. We have achieved what we set out to do at the start of the year. We will give it our best shot and if we are still in the mix in the last ten minutes, you never know what could happen.”
