Mullingar business stories to feature on RTE's Morning Ireland tomorrow

A group of Mullingar businesses who are successfully battling their way through the recession are to feature on RTE's Morning Ireland tomorrow, Friday.

Journalist, Cian McCormack, from the RTE news team met with Rosemary Horan and Dermot Holmes at Holmes' Emporium on Bishopsgate Street, and heard how their story.

The news comes in the same week when what locals believe to be an unfair portrayal of Mullingar was painted in The Irish Sun newspaper, under the headline: "Is Niall’s home Mullingar going in only One Direction?"

Says Cian: "I am revisiting towns that I visted two and a half years ago, and back then, I visited the Brosna Market in Mullingar, and I put out a call that if anyone I spoke to then wanted to contact me, to do so, and Rosemary Horan gave me a call."

He has found that people in business whom he has been interviewing for the programme have been "realistic" in their assessment of where things are at for them.

As well as calling to Holmes' Emporium, Cian also stopped off at the mart in Ballymahon, but found some degree of concern for the future among the farmers with whom he spoke there.
