Mullingar county councillor swaps FF colours for The Reds

Cllr Ken Glynn swapped his Fianna Fail colours for The Reds on Saturday as he appeared on Liverpool Football Club TV!
With airs of The Fields of Athenry warbling in the background from fans, the Mullingar man was keen to send the message out to viewers that Liverpool has an Irish manager - Brendan Rogers, and he and the rest of the Kop faithfuls were there to “welcome him home!”
Explaining that it has been a few years since the team were in Ireland there was great excitement among the fans and Ken clarified why there was such strong support from the Emerald Isle for the troop.
“There’s always been an affinity with Ireland and Liverpool, a lot of Irish people go over and back for the games, they are the best supported team in the country and we continue to grow!”
While there were predictions on Saturday that Liverpool would take down Celtic three nil, unfortunately for Ken, it was one-nil to Celtic.
Many were looking forward to seeing Steven Gerrard play, but for Mullingar, the highlight of this weekend comes on Friday when Robbie Fowler and Jason McAteer come to visit at the Greville Arms this Friday!
