Buckley's SuperValu plan a staff re-union Gathering

Calling all current, and particularly former, staff members of Buckley’s SuperValu in Mullingar!

Plans are well advanced for a Buckley’s 2013 Gathering, to be staged in the Annebrook House Hotel on Friday August 23, and the night will be made extra special as all former members of staff are invited to join in the fun.

It was long-time staff member, Mary Quinn, who came up with the idea and plans were officially announced at a launch in the store last Friday. The night will follow on from the very successful Mr and Mrs event the store organised last year and which generated a whopping €5,500 for Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

The hospital is set to be the main beneficiary of the Buckley 2013 Gathering, for which there will be no charge but people will be invited to make donations on the night.

Last year’s event was organised in support of a Buckley’s team that entered a triathlon promoted by Musgraves, held in Cork.

To aid the team, coffee mornings and bag packs were held and the fundraising culminated in the Mr and Mrs event.

Friday week’s event will comprise a table quiz, with some music and entertainment, finger food and a raffle but the real purpose is to bring as many people together as possible.

“It will be great to get to see all the old faces again and to meet up for the chat and the bit of craic,” said store owner, Jimmy Buckley.

“We are already trying to get in touch with as many as possible through Facebook and we hope that the word will be passed on that way.”

All in all it promises to be a nostalgic night, re-uniting old friends and colleagues and ultimately providing much needed support to young children battling illness in Crumlin Children’s Hospital.
