All change in Collinstown parish as Fr Michael Walsh is Kilcormac bound

The hugely popular parish priest in Collinstown and Fore has been moved to Kilcormac in Co. Offaly, as part of a number of clerical changes announced by the Bishop of Meath, Most Rev. Dr Michael Smith.

Fr Michael Walsh, a native of Empor, succeeded Fr JJ Kiernan as parish priest in Collinstown in 1998. He will be replaced by Rev. Fr Patrick Donnelly, a curate from Tullamore parish.

Fr Walsh, who previously served as a curate in Nobber, Clonmellon, Dunshaughlin, Trim and Kentstown before taking charge of Collinstown parish, replaces Fr Joseph Gallagher in Kilcormac, who has been appointed parish priest in Tullamore.

Fr Gallagher, former administrator of Mullingar Parish, succeeds Mgr Sean Heaney, who nevertheless stays on as Vicar General of the Diocese of Meath.

The appointments are effective from Sunday September 29.
