Fatal accident in Mullingar

An elderly pedestrian has died in a road traffic collision in Mullingar this afternoon.

It is understood he was struck at a pedestrian crossing on the Castlepollard Road near the Midland Regional Hospital.

A section of the road, between the hospital roundabout and the N4 roundabout, remains closed as gardaí carry out an investigation.
