Lucky Laura is a winner

As a new college term began, Laura Murphy of St Joseph’s Secondary School, Rochfortbridge learned that she is the recipient of a scholarship from The Naughton Foundation and will study science at Trinity College Dublin.

This is the first year that Westmeath students have been included in the scholarship scheme, which was established in January 2008. The Naughton Foundation scholarships are a scheme of bursaries introduced to promote the study of engineering, science and technology in any publicly funded university or third-level institution in Ireland, including Northern Ireland. Initially serving three counties, the foundation has since expanded and presented 21 awards this year.

Next year’s application form will be available for download on www.thenaughtonfoundation.ie from February 2013.
