Trip to Trib: major festival for Tullynally Castle in 2014

North Westmeath has bagged a big, shiny new music festival for summer 2014 and it will bring – with an affordable price tag – the best in live music and an authentic festival experience.

TribFest, which has been on the go for seven successful years in the UK, has chosen the Tullynally Estate outside Castlepollard to be its Irish home.

This brings a destination event to Westmeath for the June bank holiday weekend and will attract many visitors to the area and to the magnificent 350-year-old estate of Tullynally.

TribFest marries together the wonderful music from stadium rock bands known for their live gigs and affordability that comes from the fact the music is being performed by tribute acts... the best tribute acts in the world.

“They will be ‘even better than the real thing’,” explains Ed Faulkner, TribFest Festival director.

“TribFest Ireland was planned to happen in 2013 but events got in the way. I was heartened by the Irish public’s response to the festival concept and I am glad to be able to announce that TribFest Ireland 2014 is now confirmed for Tullynally Castle,” he told the Westmeath Examiner.

The UK based promoter has continued his working relationship with Bartle D’Arcy and his new company, Directing Tourism, to develop the event for the Irish market and Bartle’s involvement was key in the decision to bring the festival to north Westmeath in 2014.

“Bringing events and investment of this size into the country and then into Westmeath is good for everybody, through increased promotion and awareness of the area but also from economic spin off. A sold-out TribFest Ireland next June would generate over €1 million for the local economy,” says Bartle.

Still tightly under wraps at the minute, the line-up for TribFest Ireland and a special ticket offer in time for Christmas will be released at a Festival Launch Party at Hotel Castlepollard on Saturday November 30, when one of the festival headliners, The Joshua Tree, will be playing.

TribFest Ireland 2014 will be staged over three days from Friday May 30 to Sunday June 1. It is a family friendly festival experience with a separate family campsite, great value tickets, day tickets, the best in local food and a whole host of musicians from top tribute bands.

TribFest Ireland will also have an upcoming and unsigned bands feature as well as acoustic artists, a silent disco and other great festival features that will introduce visitors to the wonder and the beauty of the area.
