TLT receive redundancy notices

Twenty five staff members working with TLT, the Mullingar-based cattle export company which went into receivership last Friday, have received their redundancy notices.

Yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon, they met the receiver, Gearoid Costelloe of Grant Thornton, in the Mullingar Park Hotel and were served with the notices.

Speaking briefly to members of the media, Mr Costelloe said he will be doing everything he can to save as much of the business as possible but said it is a difficult situation.

“It is very complex, dealing with both marts and farmers but I hope to have a clearer picture by early next week,” he said.

Robert Troy TD and his Fianna Fáil colleague, TD for Clare, Timmy Dooley, are to raise a special Dáil debate this afternoon on the closure of TLT International.

The debate will take place during Topical Issues in Dáil Éireann, which began at 12.50pm. The Fianna Fáil question is second up for discussion and started at 1pm.
