Mullingar Choral Society Christmas Carol Concert

Mullingar Choral Society has announced the Annebrook House Hotel as the main sponsor for its Christmas Carol Concert in the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar, on Sunday December 8.

Society president, Liam Hughes, acknowledged Annebrook proprietor, Berty Dunne. “The support we receive from the Annebrook makes a real and important difference. It ensures Mullingar Choral Society can keep with tradition and continue to present its annual Christmas Carol performance,” said Liam.

“The Annebrook’s support signals a generous commitment to the cultural life of the town and I sincerely thank proprietor Berty Dunne for that.”

A musical evening for all the family, the Choral Society’s Christmas programme will be presented under the baton of principal guest conductor, Gavin Maloney.

Mullingar’s young operatic singing star, Sarah O’Grady, will sing a selection of popular pieces while the Choral Society will draw on a repertoire which features some of the most beautiful Christmas music composed.

Ring Christmas Bells, O Holy Night, For Unto Us A Child Is Born, and the annual “Christmas Festival” selection, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Amazing Grace, Gaudete, and others will complete a truly entertaining evening.

In keeping with tradition, Mullingar Town Band will provide instrumental accompaniment, and a section of highly colourful pieces from its own Christmas music repertoire.

All in all it’s an ideal event to ignite the Christmas spirit in Mullingar!

• Tickets for the Christmas concert are available from any member of the Choral Society, Mullingar Arts Centre and Days Bazaar. Family tickets: parents and children €20; individual tickets €8.
