New three-year plan for the Tidy Towns in Rochfortbridge

A three-year plan for the Tidy Towns competition in Rochfortbridge has been presented to the community in the parish hall.

The compiler of the plan, Sharon Eastwood of Woodrow Sustainable Solutions Ltd, talked members through it, 90% of which was funded by Westmeath Community Development and the Leader scheme (the remaining 10% was covered through fundraising and support from businesses around the town).

“Members from the various organisations were invited to attend and copies of the plan were handed out,” said Cathryn Whelehan, chairperson of Rochfortbridge Tidy Towns.

“Members were asked to become involved with the plan over the three coming years. Ms Eastwood’s presentation took us through the changes in the Tidy Towns competition, that included how the ‘Overall Development Approach’ has now been changed to ‘Community Involvement’, and how marks in ‘Waste and Resource Management’ have increased from 20 to 50.

“It was a very successful evening and we’d like to thank Ms Eastwood for creating this plan for Rochfortbridge. We’d also like to thank Westmeath Community Development for the funding we received and everyone who came along on the evening to show their support,” said Cathryn.
