Video from cathedral 75th anniversary celebrations
The Cathedral of Christ the King in Mullingar was packed this morning for a special celebration organised to mark the 75th anniversary of the consecration of the building.
The homily was delivered by His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan, who also blessed a number of couples who this year mark their 45th, 50th or 60th wedding anniversary.
Concelebrants included Most Reverend Michael Smith, Bishop of Meath, Most Reverend Denis Nulty, Bishop of Kidlare and Leighlin, and Most Reverend Charles Brown, Apostolic Nuncio.
Following the Mass, there was a street party on Mary Street, and amusements for children in the Cathedral grounds.
