Roses prepare for 2015 westmeath selection

At Athlone Towncentre on Sunday Roses from this year’s Westmeath Rose selection gathered in preparation for this year’s contest, which is on March 21 in the Annebrook House hotel, co-sponsor along with Athlone Towncentre.

The organisers say they have received lots of applications and the deadline is extended to Sunday March 15. Anybody interested in applying should do so at roseoftralee.ie; emailing westmeathroseoftralee@gmail.com; or calling 087 3942449.

In Athlone Towncentre on Sunday the roses met for the first time and enjoyed delicious refreshments sponsored by the Harvest Cafe, while Eric Molloy took the photos.

Another event is planned for Friday night in the Annebrook, where the roses meet again for what another stylish affair and to hear the advice of the 2014 Westmeath Rose, Katie Murphy, and roses from previous years.

The information evening starts at 7.30pm and the organising committee would encourage anybody who is still considering entering to go along for information.

All roads will lead to Mullingar the following Saturday, March 21, where the 2015 Westmeath Rose will be selected.

She will then go on to represent Westmeath at the regional finals in Portlaoise in June and hopefully grace the stage at the dome in Tralee in August.
