Details of mullingar st patricks day parade

The Mullingar St Patricks’ Day Parade is now just one week away. These are some details of events on the day.

The Parade will start from Columb Barracks at 4pm and the Parade route will be along the Fair Green area to the Green Bridge, down Dominick Street, Oliver Plunkett Street, Pearse Street and Austin Friars Street, finishing at the Millmount Road junction. Floats/walking groups will disperse at the Town Park entrance. Floats may also exit town by Dublin Bridge/Dublin or Delvin RD entrances.

Road closures will take place at Castle Street and Mount Street from 11.30am to allow for setting up of street entertainment.

Oliver Plunkett Street and Pearse Street will be closed from 2pm and Dominick Street will be closed will be closed 3pm.

Traffic will be stopped on the Green Road/Ashe Road/Patrick Street area to allow the Parade to proceed from Columb Barracks to the Green Bridge/Dominick Street area at 4pm.

Dominick Street be reopened to traffic after the Parade has passed through the street (probably around 5.30pm Oliver Plunkett Street/Pearse Street will remain closed until around 6pm.

Entertainment on Castle Street will begin around 1pm and finish at 4pm. Live music and dance on Mount Street/Market Square will start at around 1pm and finish at 5.30pm.

There will be traffic restrictions along Millmount Road where the parade will finish around 5.30pm.

The deadline for receipt of Float Entry forms is 5pm on Friday March 13. Parade entry forms may be left into the Greville Arms Hotel or posted to Mullingar St Patricks’ Day Parade Committee, c/o Greville Arms Hotel, Pearse Street Mullingar. For commercial float entries, there is an entry fee of €50. Community/Sports Groups/Schools are free.

All float entrants must have insurance cover and bring a copy of the insurance with them on the day. Those taking part in the Parade must be at Columb Barracks by 3.30pm. Those with vehicles should be there for 3pm.

Donations are still welcome! Cheques should be made payable to the Mullingar St Patrick’s Day Parade. Volunteers are also welcome to help on the day.
