Tornadoes destroy venice suburb

Sometimes we like to complain about the weather here in Ireland.

In fact, it's one of our favourite pastimes.

But spare a thought for those in Italy today where severe weather is wreaking havoc across the normally idyllic landscape of Mira, near Venice.

At least one person has been reported dead and hundreds injured.

Wind speeds of up to 160km/h were recorded, lifting cars off roads and destroying buildings, leaving a trail of destruction in its path.

The tornado hit yesterday, Wednesday, due a severe weather outbreak across mainland Europe.

Other countries affected by this supercell include Germany, France and Austria.
