July was one of the windiest months for some time.

And theres not even a brrr in the month

We hardly had to wait to be told that July was one of the most miserable summer months for some time but now it’s official.

In its report on July’s weather stats, Met Eireann has underlined that Mullingar recorded its coldest July since 1988 with even a touch of frost noted on July 9.

In line with all of the weather stations, mean air temperatures were below their LTA (Long-Term Average) in Mullingar and terms of rainfall, Mullingar was to the fore, recording a monthly rainfall total of 76.5mm.

And August hasn’t started any better with Mullingar experiencing a thoroughly miserable day today (Wednesday) with rain expected to continue into the evening.

There may be some respite tomorrow with a mixture of sunny intervals and isolated showers. Friday is see some improvement while Saturday is lining up to be the best day of the week, with little or no rain and some sunshine.

But then along comes Sunday and its back to the mixed bag of wind, rain, occasional sun and chilly nights.
