Delvin native Fr Oliver J Devine mourned

The death occurred last night of Delvin native Fr Oliver J Devine, retired Parish Priest of Mountnugent.

Having served for many years as a De La Salle Brother, Fr Devine was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Meath in his home parish of Delvin on 5 September 1999.

He served as Curate in Kingscourt until his appointment as Parish Priest of Mountnugent in September 2004, a position he held until his retirement last month.

Fr Devine will repose at Portiuncula Nursing Home, Multyfarnham from this afternoon until arrival at the Church of St Brigid, Mountnugent on Saturday October 31 at 6pm, where reposing will continue until 9pm.

His nephew, Fr Oliver Devine, will celebrate Mass in the Church of St Brigid, Mountnugent on Sunday November 1 at 6pm before the remains will be transferred to the Church of St Brigid and St Fiach, Ballinacree for reposing until 9pm.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Monday November 2 at 1pm in the Church of St Brigid and St Fiach, Ballinacree with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
