Westmeath motor club to hold Tullamore Autotest

The Westmeath and District Motor Club is holding a motor race in Tullamore from 11am on Sunday November 8 in the AXIS Business Park. There will be arrows pointing to the venue from the Tullamore ring road. This event is organised in association with The Tullamore Court Hotel.
The Westmeath club expects over 35 cars to compete in this Autotest event, a sport in which drivers are required to negotiate a series of short courses, known as tests, in the shortest possible time. There are time penalties added for mistakes such as hitting course markers, so this is one of the purest demonstrations of precision driving. Many competitors compete in specialist autotest cars.

This event will be part of the prestigious National Hewison Trophy Championship, with all of Ireland top drivers expected to compete. This should prove to be a popular day out for all the family.
The multiple Irish Champion Steven Ferguson, is expected to compete in Tullamore this year, fresh from his win in the Autotest Nations Cup in the UK where he helped Northern Ireland beat the Republic of Ireland.
All members of the Republic of Ireland team are also expected compete this year: Eamon Byrne, David Thompson, Timmy Lynch and last year’s Tullamore winner Guy Foster.

There is no set admission price, although donations will be accepted by the non profit club to enable them to bring more quality motorsport to the area. The Westmeath and District Motor Club run three motorsport competitions every year and help at many rally events across the country.
For those interested in motorsport, joining a club is the ideal first step to this fun and social sport, you can help, marshal or race.
