Mullingar's new priest arrives in town

The new priest appointed to Mullingar parish, Fr Robert McGivney, has this evening, Saturday, celebrated his first Mass at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Mullingar.

Fr McGivney, 28 was ordained in June of this year in Navan, and has been ministering in Mornington in Co Meath.

He replaces Fr Michael Kilmartin in Mullingar, who is now parish priest of Longwood.

Fr McGivney told the congregation that he enjoys jogging, football and music, and he studied mathematics before going on to study for the priesthood.

He urged people to introduce themselves to him, and spoke of looking forward to getting to know the parishioners of Mullingar.

The administrator of Mullingar parish, Fr Padraic McMahon, introduced Fr McGivney to the congregation.
