Death of former bishop

 

He served as Bishop of Meath & Kildare from 1976 to 1985.

The Bishop of Meath and Kildare, the Most Revd Pat Storey said “I speak for all members of our dioceses as we express our sadness at the news of the death of Dr Caird. He was a man of great personal warmth who served our dioceses, as well as the wider Church of Ireland, with faithfulness and generosity. He was a man of tremendous intellect and had a deep love for the Irish language”. She continued, “We offer our sympathy to his wife, Nancy and the rest of his family, as we remember them in our prayers”.

The Rt Revd Prof Donald Caird also served as Archbishop of Dublin (1985–96), as well as being Bishop of Limerick (1970–76).
