Council says roads to close to facilitate resurfacing work

Over the next three months, motorists using the N52 and the N4 will experience temporary road closures at various junctions as resurfacing works are carried out.

Initially, the works will be concentrated on Junction 15 of the N4 at Marlinstown Roundabout, Curraghmore Roundabout and the N52 overbridge.

Due to commence on Monday June 26, works on Junction 15 will see the old Dublin Road, from Mullingar closed to traffic from the entrance to Mullingar Park Hotel and Richdale Court, from June 26 to Friday July 7.

The approach from the Baltrasna roundabout will also be closed to traffic, as will the approach from J15 westbound on and off slip roads.

In terms of the Curraghmore roundabout, the L5713 approach from the junction with Pettiswood Close, the N4 on and off slip roads and the N52 approach on the overbridge from the junction with the westbound slip roads will also be affected.

At the N52 overbridge, the N52 between Marlinstown roundabout and the Curraghmore roundabout and the N4 westbound, on and off slips will also be closed.

The council have stated that all of the closures will run from 7pm to 6am, to ensure minimum disruption to traffic.

Work on Junction 16 is expected to commence on Monday July 10 and the timeframe for the work is three consecutive weeks between then and September 1. Here, the eastbound and westbound on and off slip roads will be affected but they will not be closed at the same time. The N52/Delvin Road between the Lakepoint Retail Park and the eastbound slip road will also be affected.

The programme also allows for the closure of the westbound off slip at Junction 17 of the N4, as well as the eastbound on and off slip roads and this work is scheduled to commence on Monday July 3, embracing a 48-hour period between then and Friday July 14.
