Longford-Westmeath TDs help mark Seetec centre's three year anniversary
Longford-Westmeath TDs, business owners and community organisations were among those to mark the third anniversary of the opening of Seetec’s centre in Longford.
TDs, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran and Peter Burke, were in attendance to celebrate the success of the JobPath service in County Longford and to hear the positive impact it has had on the community.
Seetec is contracted by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP) to run JobPath which aims to help the long-term unemployed and those furthest from the labour market back into work.
Since its launch on July 28th 2015, Seetec Longford, which is based at Redleaf House, Townparks, Longford, has helped more than 700 people find full-time employment with a further 120 securing part-time work. It has successfully partnered with 400 employers and currently has more than 850 participants active with the service.
Noeleen Nannery, Business Manager at Seetec Longford, said: “We opened this centre three years ago to deliver JobPath with the sole aim of empowering individuals to move into sustainable employment.
“We have helped more than 800 people in Longford into employment and we continue to grow stronger ties within the community. We have partnered with more than 400 employers and our Employer Services Consultant Helena Foy has been vital to this as our relationships go from strength-to-strength.
“We had people from local businesses, Longford County Council, TDs and the DEASP join us to celebrate, which shows you just how crucial the subject of employment is at so many levels.”
Examples of how Seetec’s centre and services has helped local business were shared during the event. Suzanne Doyle, director of Ascot Security Ltd, detailed how she used Seetec’s facilities to conduct her own interviews during a recruitment drive. Thelma Garvey, HR Specialist at Pulse Logistics, and Andrew Reynolds, director of Coffee House 45, spoke how Seetec helped their businesses hire staff from County Longford.
Georgina Murphy, Operations & Supply Chain Director at Seetec, added: “Our purposely designed centre is where participants start their JobPath journey and has an education training suite where we carry out workshops as well as small training rooms to conduct interviews.
“Additionally, we have a dedicated job search area where participants have access to our I.T facilities to aid their search for job vacancies, application for jobs and creating their CV.
“The Seetec Longford team work hard within the community and we’re delighted with the support we’ve received and the success we’ve had in our first three years – long may it continue.”
