Where are they now? First day at Streamstown NS in September 1993

It’s first day at school time for junior infants across the county, and in the coming editions of the Westmeath Examiner, we’ll have the now customary spreads of photos of this year’s intake.

It’s interesting to speculate on what the world might be like in 20 or so years’ time, when the five- and six-year-olds of 2018 are mature adults.

What sort of jobs will they be doing? Will they still have smartphones and computers? Will they drive cars that we would recognise, eat food that looks familiar?

We could go on for ages, but more interesting is this photo from September 1993.
