Cyclists complete Lourdes to Knock challenge

A group of cyclists including one from Westmeath completed a five-day 2,000km route from Lourdes to Knock yesterday.

Maurice Dore, Mullingar, Jonathan Verry, Crossmolina, Gary Bigley, Kiltimagh, and Alan Heaney, Killasser arrived at Knock Shrine yesterday afternoon.

The challenge, in aid of Down Syndrome, is raising funds to build a regional centre in Swinford.

The GoFundMe target of €30,000 currently stands at €22,451.

Some proceeds are also being donated to Pieta House.

The cycle, which started last Tuesday, involved ferry crossings of the English Channel and Irish Sea and cycles through France, England, Wales and Ireland.
