Bronze for Wayne Kelly in Ukraine

Ballynacargy boxer Wayne Kelly has claimed a bronze medal at the Testin Memorial in Odessa, Ukraine recently.

The Westmeath boxer was on the wrong end of a decision in favour of Yuri Shepelyk of Ukraine, but Kelly won plenty of plaudits for posting three victories in three days en route to the last four.

Kelly believes he will have a big breakthrough in the year ahead, with big things happening for him.

“I’m feeling very positive going forward, and hopefully I’ll get picked for the world championships in Russia in September coming, and then the qualifiers for Tokyo that start in January,” said the Ballynacargy Boxing Club fighter.

“I’m in full-time training now, so I’m looking for some sponsorship to help me with my training etc.

“If there is any business out there that would like to come on board to help me with my preparation for the upcoming events and hopefully the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, I can be contacted on 083 890 1218,” Wayne added.
